PROXIMITY
Interactive Light Installation
PROXIMITY is an interactive luminous installation presented during Milano Design Week 2026 at the Chiostro Bramantesco, CAM Falcone e Borsellino, Corso Garibaldi 27.
The installation reacts to the presence and movement of visitors in real time, creating an immersive environment where the viewer is no longer a passive spectator but an active and integral part of the work. The light field continuously reshapes itself in response to proximity data — each person who enters the space leaves a temporary trace in the luminous fabric of the courtyard.
Concept and visual design were led by @stefanosantomauro_lab9. Lighting design by @ane_mik.ign. Sound design by @giuse.__.della. Interaction design and real-time behaviour system by Semyon Fridman.
The real-time sensing and visual output pipeline was built in TouchDesigner, with Mad Mapper handling the projection mapping onto the architectural surfaces of the historic courtyard.
The result is a work that belongs to no single visitor — it is completed, moment by moment, by whoever walks through it.
