An interactive system that converts live video streams and pre-recorded files into text-based visual art in real time.

The generator offers 21 customizable mapping fields that control character distribution across the luminance range, allowing fine-grained aesthetic control from dense noise to sparse glyphs. Switchable ASCII character libraries let the operator shift between high-contrast, geometric, or expressive character sets mid-session.

Audio reactivity is built in via low-latency sound analysis — transients and amplitude envelopes drive character density and refresh rate, coupling the visual output directly to sound. GPU-optimized rendering maintains a consistent 60 FPS even at high output resolutions.

A Python backend handles direct data manipulation and preset management. Ableton Live device integration is available for performance contexts where the system is operated alongside a DAW.
