Rotten World
VR Installation Concept
2025Completed
A VR pitch set in a decaying, digitalised Milan, where low-resolution scans dissolve the city into data noise and only the objects of daily ritual stay sharp.
Rotten World is a concept for an immersive VR installation built on one premise: high-definition reality distracts us from the spiritual truth of daily life. The city is shown through digital rot, low-resolution 3D scans and Gaussian splatting that strip Milan down to a vibrating volume of data.
In that noise, only the Anchors stay sharp: the objects of routine, such as a smartphone, a steering wheel, a coffee cup, a laptop, a camera, a spritz glass and a set of keys. The viewer follows one Milanese citizen through a single day as a continuous loop: awakening, commute, a crowded bar, the office, supper, a second round of work in a photo studio, aperitivo and the walk home. The loop closes in the bedroom, where the data dissolves to black.
The pitch consists of a log line, a synopsis, a nine-scene outline pairing each Anchor with its audio, and a presentation deck. Made at NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milan) for Audiovisual Concept & Development.
